Annual Awards

January 12th, 2012

Wellington Masonic Lodge #127 held their annual Award Presentation meeting on Monday December 12, 2011; not all recipients were able to climb the stairs to the third floor meeting room so several brothers traveled to the members home to make their presentations. Those traveling with Worshipful Master Scott Markel were Delbert Mohrman, Jim Young, Ron Runion and Right Worship Brother David Hildebrandt who made the presentations on behalf of the Grand Lodge of Ohio and Kevin B. Todd Grand Master of Masons in Ohio.

Those receiving Fifty Year awards were Lowell Lutz with his wife Sharon and Avery Sooy with his wife Helen. The Sixty year recipient was Rev Robert Baker with his wife Neatty. The wife of each honoree pinned their husband on the occasion of this major milestone in their Masonic career. Others recognized during the December meeting were: Mike Ketchum, 25 years, Calvin Woods 35 years and Charles Seeley 40 years. Mike Ketchum and Larry Simonson were presented an Ohio Masonic Home Gold Card acknowledging their contribution to the Ohio Masonic Home in excess of $100.00. Robert Shays was presented a plague honoring his 14 consecutive years as Chaplain and Alan Kopnicky, Senior Deacon, was presented his first Lecture Bar by Anthony Constantine, District Education Officer. Hot Chocolate

December 7th, 2011

On Saturday December 3rd Wellington Lodge provided free Hot Chocolate for all who came out to watch the Christmas Parade. It was a mild December day but a lot of people took advantage of the offer and kept the officers busy filling cups with the welcome beverage. Watch for the next event where the Worshipful Master and officers will be extending the fraternal hand of friendship to the members of our community. View our Photo Album to see the setup in front of the Lodge.

Fall Begins

September 19th, 2011

At 5:05 AM on Friday September 23rd Autumn Begins. How was your summer? This question can bring a variety of answers from “Fast” to “Hot” or “Not long enough”. But it’s here; personally I love Fall I think here in North East Ohio we have some of the most beautiful fall weather. Also with Fall we see an increase in Lodge activities. There are last minute requirements to be met, plans for Grand Lodge to be made and conversations lead towards discussions about new officers, who might they be. Wellington Lodge is going through a tough time, we are not seeing any dedicated members willing to step up to serve. We also have several stations that have men who have served for a long time and have decided that they would like to retire and have no desire to be reelected or reappointed. If you would like to become involved and to serve the lodge let the Worshipful Master know of your intentions.

Dedication of our Memorial Bench

May 30th, 2011

On Saturday May 28th eight members and one visitor assembled at Union Cemetery and Dedicated a Memorial Bench. This Lodge project was recorded for prosperity and a collage of those photos have been placed in our gallery. Please take time to view the events of the day and when you are in town stop by Union Cemetery and under the big Oak tree you will find a bench in which you can sit upon to “Rest and Reflect”.

Items of Interest

April 26th, 2011

Wellington Lodge was very pleased to have the Grand Master, Bradford Goebel and several Grand Lodge officers in attendance at our annual inspection. Their photo is included in our gallery and I encourage you to view all of our photos. The Worshipful Master has announced a “Home Coming” event for our next stated meeting. All members and especially those who were one day class candidates are invited to enjoy a spaghetti dinner prior to the start of the meeting. There is no cost but please let him know if you are coming. The officers will then confer the Entered Apprentice degree for your pleasure. Come out in support of Wellington Lodge and enjoy our warmest fellowship. I would like to share a piece of Wellington Lodge history, in as much as it involves one of our Past Masters and we are soon approaching the date mentioned. On May 21, 1983 Elyria Council No. 86, Royal & Select Masters conferred the Super Excellent Master Degree for 4 candidates. The class was named for Illustrious Companion Royal (Sarge) Wilson who was a Past Master of Wellington Lodge, Past High Priest of Wellington Chapter #109, Past Illustrious Master of Elyria Council and a member of Elyria Commandery #60. And one of the finest masons that you would ever meet.   See you in Lodge
