Special Olympics

June 26th, 2010

Often times we think “funding” when Special Olympics is mentioned. Yesterday I attended the opening ceremonies for the 2010 Ohio Special Olympics Summer Games and you could quickly feel the enormity of it all. The excitement from the athletes was was everywhere. The National Anthem was sung by two young men, who happened to be blind, in such a stirring manner that it brought warmth to your heart and soul. Then during the presentation portion when our Grand Master, Terry W. Posey, presented the Olympic committee our check for $200,000.00 you should have heard the roar of the crowd. It was tremendous and from the podium they couldn’t stop praising each of us for our generous support, which generated another round of applause. WE do make a difference.

I have updated our gallery with a few picture of that great event.

History was made

June 7th, 2010

On June 6, 2010 our Grand Master Terry W. Posey with all of the Grand Lodge Officers Rededicated the WWI and WWII War memorials and Dedicated the Korean War and Vietnam War memorials in a most impressive manner. Part of the ceremony included a veteran of the Korean War and of the Vietnam War placing a wreath at the base of their respective memorial. These granite monuments will endure the test of time and the words spoken will ring true in the hearts of those recognized and welcomed home for the rest of our lives. Pictures of the monuments are in our photo album.

Sands of Time

January 26th, 2010

We hear all the time about how quickly the sands of time run and when it comes to a Masonic year it becomes oh so clear. In a few days it will be ground hog day which brings on thoughts of spring, sooner better than later. The lodge has been busy with candidates but not so busy that our Worshipful Master can’t keep his agenda. We had a great DEO program on the 25th which was very well received by all in attendance, even for the loosing team. February will start out fast with two Entered Apprentices eager to be passed to the degree of Fellow Craft. Come out on February 8th and enjoy the fellowship.

Honorees

December 15th, 2009

December 14th marked a milepost for Wellington Lodge; through a new program offered by the Grand Lodge we were able to honor our members who have been members for 35 and 40 years. The men recognized for 40 years were raised between 1961 and 1970 and those for 35 years were raised between 1971 and 1975. The 50 year recipient is awarded on the actual Masonic year marking his raising. Take a look at our Photo Album to see if you recognize any of the honorees.
